It's been ages since the last PermissionRadio podcast, and we're finally coming back with new episodes.
Set your receivers on anticipate - Sunday, February 10th marks the first episode of 2008.
(To be honest, I didn't know when we were going to start again, but then I told Leo Laporte at MacWorld about the show, and now we have to get new episodes out! Thanks Leo!)
Joining us on Week 15 is our new music editor Joe Ahearn!
Leave a comment and let us know your favorite band this week. Here's what we've got on the show:
Since recording the podcast, we were sad to learn that Nikki Sudden of the Swell Maps has passed away on March 27th, in New York City. Our thoughts go out to everyone who knew and loved him.
Week 14 with Robin & Jayson! Leave a comment and let us know your favorite band this week. Here's what we've got on the show:
NOTE: Our podcast is distributed in enhanced (m4a) format, including multiple artwork, chapters, and clickable links within iTunes. If you have an MP3 player that does NOT support these files, download the MP3 file without enhanced info.
We've got the winner of the first Battle of the Bands, and it's Futuro. Head over to their site and let them know what you think. Be sure to say you heard them at Permission Magazine.
Important correction: this show includes (Brian) Amsterdam, a great young musician from Aeria Records. Unfortunately, when I talked about him on the podcast, I ended up talking about a Merseyside band called Amsterdam. If you liked his song "See You Soon" (which you should, it rules), be sure to pick up The Sore Score.
Another hour of great new music - be sure and leave a comment, let us know what you liked (or hated).
Week 11 is up now! Listen to the show to hear the combatants, then vote for your favorite in our first BATTLE OF THE BANDS. The first vote for the winning band gets a free t-shirt.
when you vote, and we'll check the time against the vote - if you were first, and your band wins, we'll get your address and send you a free Permission T-shirt.
Update - we're giving a second t-shirt to one randomly chosen voter for the winning band. It only seemed fair.
We play some great bands this week, click on any band name to visit their website:
Thanks as always to Plastic East for our theme music, and all the great independent labels that help make the show possible. Support the scene - if you like something, go buy the album.

Our first live audience podcast, recorded at Kush Lounge in NYC. We kicked
off our new weekly party, Permission Mondays, with a Halloween show hosted by
Urban Gypsy Circus, and of course Jayson & Dave. One of the partygoers was
beatboxing with a flute. Yes.
This week's song list:
Jayson is out of town this week, so Dave has taken over the show. With the
help of Permission's in-house Harvard MBA, Cherie Fu, we bring you another batch
of hot new music. This week, it's:
Next week we begin podcasting for a live audience at Kush
- come out Monday night, we will be recording the show from 8:30 - 9:30pm, and
there will be lots of fun all night as the Urban Gypsy Circus kicks off the
first week of Permission Mondays at Kush!
Many people have asked about which organization is best to donate to for the victims of the Oct. 8 earthquake. CARE has been doing great work since 1945 to protect victims of poverty and disaster.
Please take a moment to donate to what will sadly be a long and expensive rescue and recovery effort.
If you have favorite new bands that you want to know about, please
and we'll try to get the lowdown on them, and maybe play some tracks in our next show.
This week's podcast is hosted by several Permission peoples: Jayson Elliot,
David Lee, Robin Kawakami, and Yuki Tanaka. Hello to everyone from Digg.com - thanks for pushing us to the front page. Like we didn't like Digg enough already...
Our third podcast will be available for download by 10pmmidnight 3am EST, today Monday Oct. 3rd.
We normally make the podcast available Sunday nights, but there are two new tracks that we had to wait until this morning to get clearance for - and trust me, it was worth it...
Special welcome to everyone from Digg.com - thanks for digging our show!
